Why kissing is so important. The limbic system, what some researchers call the primitive brain is where our bodily functions, such as heart rate, breathing, and perspiration our controlled automatically.
Kissing Excites the Old Brain Center
The old brain center is where heart rate, breathing, perspiration and many other bodily functions are controlled automatically by the limbic system. Most of the functions in the old brain center are devoted to survival and sex.
Kissing excites this old brain center and it starts preparing the body to have sex. It takes the new brain (i.e. the cerebral cortex where logic and conscious thought occurs) to put the brakes on and stop, or at least have “safe sex”.
